NNGSS – National Network for Girls Social Shifters

We are the Shift!

NNGSS, is the Girls’ Wing of ZAFAYCO, dedicated to empowering young women and girls in Zanzibar. Founded in May 2023 with support from the Malala Fund Girls’ Program, NNGSS has quickly grown to 60 members across Unguja and Pemba. It’s a space where girls come together, advocate for their rights, and challenge harmful social norms to make a real, lasting difference.

Our vision is to see a Zanzibar where every girl and young woman is a powerful force for change, with equal opportunities in all aspects of life. Our mission is to empower girls to break down barriers, reshape societal norms, and lead progress both locally and nationally.

NNGSS focuses on four key areas:

• Promoting Girls’ Access to and Retention in Education
• Promoting Girls Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)
• Supporting girls to gain skills and access economic opportunities
• Protecting Girls from Gender-Based Violence (GBV): Ensuring girls are safe from violence and discrimination.

While we operate under ZAFAYCO, we are an independent wing actively seeking resources to grow our impact. Every donation counts. Just one contribution can help a girl stay in school, access essential healthcare, or find safety and hope.
